WEST LONG BRANCH: The borough's newest eatery, Mizu 36, is open and ready to satisfy your Asian cuisine cravings.
The huge restaurant located in the Shop Rite plaza, at 145 Monmouth Road, Suite 9, offers 30 signature rolls, hot and cold appetizers, fresh sushi and sashimi, fried rice, noodle dishes, ramen, Asian wok and grilled entrees and hibachi.
Owner Xu Zheng said his new restaurant opened on Sept. 27 and that he hopes that by offering a large and diverse menu that the large crowds will continue coming through the doors.
This is not Zheng's first business venture as he also owns Aji and Ming Ying, located next door to each other on Montgomery Avenue in Long Branch. He said his goal at all of his restaurants is to continue to give his customers "good service and delicious food."
Zheng said the rolls are always a customer favorite, so when he designed Mizu 36, he made sure it had a a large sushi bar that accommodate not only a lot of customers but also a lot of sushi chefs. They have been churning out tons of unique rolls including the paradise roll which has shrimp tempura, lobster salad and fried banana wrapped with soy bean paper and topped with a yuzu mango sauce.
The menu is also filled with various Japanese and Thai-style soups and hot entrees including crowd favorites such as general tso's chicken and more adventurous dishes such as tangerine roasted duck.
Zheng said one of the highlights of his menu is a lunch and dinner all-you-can-eat option. For $16.99, you can choose from various lunch menu items including rolls, appetizers, sushi, deep fried and noodle dishes. In addition to the sushi bar, the restaurant has two large seating areas and can even be rented out for holiday parties to sit up to 180 people, Zheng said. There is also a large party room that can accommodate 40 people.
Mizu 36 also features vegetarian-friendly menu items, offers a catering party tray and is BYOB.
The restaurant os open from 11:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and noon-10:30 p.m. on Sunday.
