West Long Branch: We had a great success,” said Chairwoman Roseann DeLeo the morning after the annual West Long Branch First Aid Fundraiser Gift Auction on Saturday. The results from the event were in and she said everyone had a great time.
“The food was excellent and the gift auction went extremely well, lots of happy winners for the 80 or so prizes. All were donated and made great gifts.” The "big prize", a 32-inch TV, went to Jean Galletta from Staten Island.
Many First-time attendees told DeLeo they will be back next year. “They loved it,” she said.
Gene Van Brunt got a big round of applause from the First Aiders for his active participation and serving the meal he had prepared with Frank and members of his staff. “He donated his WLB Community Center for the event itself and also the food,” DeLeo added. ”All that after coming in hours before the dinner to wrap the gifts in such a beautiful and attention getting manner. Plus he donated a gift prize from his shop Flowers by Van Brunt as well. ”
The word of mouth advertising will mean a great deal toward next year’s attendance.
The First Aid members all pitched in and volunteers added to the success, assisting in every way. “I received lots of calls of appreciation this morning,” DeLeo said as she reported the results.
