MONMOUTH BEACH: Two bodies were recovered from the water in the area of the Channel Club Marina and Beach Tavern on Friday night, March 24.
The identities of the bodies have now been identified as John J. LoBello, 59, of Toms River, and Deborah Hollen-Lappin, 51, of Eatontown.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said the deaths do not appear to be suspicious but :that determination is pending the results of a toxicological report from the medical examiner."
The investigation is active and ongoing and additional information will be released as soon it becomes available.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office issued the following statement on Friday night:
At approximately 12:35 p.m., the Monmouth Beach Police Department received a call for service in the area of 33 West Street, Monmouth Beach -- the Channel Club Marina. The caller reported observing a body located in the water at the marina. Monmouth Beach Police Officers responded and located the body of a deceased male near the end of a dock in the marina.
As a result of the initial discovery, the Monmouth County prosecutors office was notified and responded to assist with the death investigation. During the course of the early stages of the investigation, an additional body, determined to be a female, was located in the water in the same area. The prosecutors office and the Monmouth Beach Police Department where assisted by the Monmouth County Sheriffs Office, as well as the New Jersey State Police.
