Two Arrested For Armed Robbery Of Ocean Township Gas Station

The following is a press release from the Ocean Township Police Department:

On November 1st, 2017 at approximately 9:02pm police responded to the Shell Gas Station located at 2901 Asbury Avenue for an armed robbery that just occurred. When police arrived they learned that a black male confronted the employee, brandished a knife and a physical struggle ensued. After the brief struggle the accused fled the area and was last seen running towards Green Gove Road in Neptune Township.

The employee was not injured and did not require any medica l attention. Officers on scene requested a K-9 to join the investigation. Sheriffs Officer Joseph Aretino along with K-9 Ari arrived shortly thereafter.

Further investigation revealed that Tywan Thomas, 19, along with Troy White, 20, both of Asbury Park fled the scene of the armed robbery to a nearby residence along Green Grove Road in Neptune Township. Thomas was charged with conspiracy to commit a robbery and White was charged with robbery, possession of weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. They were both transported to the county jail pending their initial court appearance.
