That 70's 'Fashion' Show

Long Branch:  At Ocean Place in Long Branch on Saturday morning St. Jerome School, West Long Branch held their 31st annual Luncheon and Fashion Show with a HUGE gift auction.  There was a mystery gift, “Dancing Queen”, valued at more than $3000.00.  Tickets cost $5 and nobody knew what it was until it was won.  Turned out to be diamond earrings and a pendant.  The theme for the day was disco fever!  There was not one but two 50/50 winners!

The PTA Committee worked tirelessly to put on an amazing event, the line was out the door as the time grew closer for the luncheon, fashion show and gift auction to begin.  No detail went unanswered.  The 2012 8th grade class were the models for the fashion show.  Boys wore tuxedos in a myriad of colors and designs from Dante Zeller Tuxedo in Freehold; Evolution the Salon in Monmouth Beach donated hair services; Lord & Taylor donated make-up services by Agnes from the Clarins counter; and Rue Royale Couture in Red Bank provided fashions for the girls.

Gift baskets lined the walls of the ballroom.  There were large gifts with a yellow ribbon valued from $100-200, super gifts with a silver ribbon, valued from $200-400 and mega gifts valued at more than $400.  If you were lucky enough you may have won “Saturday Night Fever!”,  a shopping spree $1,000 gift certificate to the store(s)  of your choice.

Parents, teachers, staff and area businesses chipped in to make this a memorable event.   The PTA Executive Board of Elsa Pagano and Mary Holtz, along with Michelle Petillo, Betsy Giordano and Claudia Volpe did a really REALLY funkadelic job!
