Long Branch: City event coordinator Barry Stein joined the Long Branch Rotary Club on Friday, May 3 to tip them off about events coming to the city this summer – the music shows, cars shows and other great events all can enjoy.
“It’s a great program coming up,” Stein told the club members over lunch.
It was the regular club meeting at Rooney’s on the promenade, 12:15 p.m. each week. Most events are in the evening at Pier Village’s Patriots Plaza and at West End Park on Brighton Avenue at 7 p.m.
“We have back up music at the band shell on Third Avenue and Union, across from McDonalds, behind Brookdale CC. That is on Tuesdays, July 8, 15 and 22 at the band shell on Third Avenue and Union, across from McDonalds, behind Brookdale CC," Stein said. "We call it Downtown Tuesday Nights - music, terrific stuff."
Then there is a drum circle on Saturdays at 6 p.m.
The Long Branch Jazz and Blues Festival is a day of well-known bands, vocalists, plus vendors on the Great Lawn. Fireworks close out a great day.
Great cars show: the 20th annual Cruise to the Jersey Shore from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. June 15. The Belmonts bring the music for that gig. And later on August 16 it’s the West End Cruise Night at West End Park.
“That’s not all. On Wednesday June 25 at West End Park there will be the LBHS Sound Wave Band -awesome.” July 25 it’s the Ocean Grove Summer Band that did a super excellent job last year.” Both shows are at 7:00 p.m.
Stein is retiring at the end of this program.
“It will be our best yet,” he said with a thumbs up gesture. “Come out, have fun and make this year my best ever.”
