Gov. Chris Christie has declared a state of emergency for Monmouth County. The declaration is also in effect for Atlantic, Cape May and Ocean counties.
While there is no travel ban in place, travel is highly discouraged due to hazardous conditions on most roadways.
All state offices have also been closed for all non-essential employees. Originally the offices were only on a 2-hour delay.
A blizzard warning is in effect for Monmouth County until 7 p.m. The winter storm is expected to continue throughout the day, bringing heavy snow to coastal regions, high winds and freezing temperatures throughout the state.
