MONMOUTH BEACH: One of the busiest stretches of highway during the summer months at the Jersey Shore could be lowered soon.
A request to conduct a speed limit reduction study along the Route 36 corridor in Monmouth Beach has been approved and is underway, according to the Monmouth Beach Police Department. The police have been working with the officials from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) in order begin the study.
"The speed limit reduction study is a comprehensive traffic and pedestrian study/survey which falls under the purview of the NJ DOT Bureau of Traffic Engineering," a post on the Monmouth Beach Police Department states.
The current speed limit is 40 mph, but the post does not state what the limit could be lowered to once the study is complete and recommendations are made by the DOT.
