LONG BRANCH:The summer “Hunger is Closer Than You Think” campaign kicked off on Memorial Day weekend with a big event that featured the sensational Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes at the WindMill location on Ocean and Brighton Avenues in Long Branch.
Summer can become a season of being hungry for 51,000 children out of schools and the food they receive while in the school system.
The Monmouth Ocean FoodBank will be there to help thanks in part to the WindMill restaurants and Sabrett hotdogs and other sponsors in Monmouth and Ocean counties.
The FoodBank provides food and other important services to families, senior citizens, military veterans, the disabled and the working poor. At present 1 out of 10 people in Monmouth and Ocean Counties receive emergency food from the FoodBank.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, for every $5 donated to the FoodBank, Sabrett is donating 10,000 WindMill hot dogs and the WindMill will donates $5.00 to the food bank for each hot dog purchase. They hope to raise $50,000.
