SEA BRIGHT: Borough residents will soon be able to know that their streets will be clear of people who should not be parking there.
The Sea Bright Council introduced an ordinance that will expand the residential parking permit to both sides of certain streets in the downtown area during a special meeting on June 6
"The signs have started going up but in order for it to be enforceable by the police that are writing tickets, the ordinance needs to be passed," Mayor Dina Long said.
The following streets will require permit parking on their north and south sides following the passage of the ordinance; Beach Street, Center Street, Church Street, East Church Street, East New Street, New Street, Peninsula Avenue and River Street.
Residents in these areas have complained that they are unable to park on their streets due to beachgoers and other visitors to town taking up all the spaces. The ordinance will now make that illegal and police will ticket or tow vehicles that violate it.
The ordinance will be up for adoption at the June 16 Sea Bright Council meeting at 8:30 a.m.
