Rook Coffee Roasters, a local specialty coffee company, is in the process of acquiring a new location to house its roasting operation, according to co-owner Holly Migliaccio.
The roasters would be located at 10 North Third Avenue in Long Branch, the former home of Kimbo Educational. Migliaccio said she and co-owner Shawn Kingsley are hoping to close on the 10,500-square-foot property in the next month in an effort to continue to grow their brand and distribute more coffee to its seven (soon to be eight locations) throughout Monmouth County.
"We have ties to this area and our families are rooted in Long Branch," Migliaccio said. "We hope to have a hand in helping the redevelopment of the area and we'd like to be there when it happens."
She said the building would house a 70-kilo roaster which would have the ability to produce 5 times the amount of coffee that the current facility in Ocean Township does.
She said the facility would be used for roasting, creating their cold brew used in iced coffee and for office space. There are no current plans to sell coffee at the facility, but that could possibly change in the future, Migliaccio said.
