Volunteers from Navy Recruiting Station in Tinton Falls Come Out to Support RMH

Long Branch:  The Ronald McDonald House (RHM) located at 131 Bath Ave hosted a fund-raising yard sale, which aimed to raise money for children and their families while increasing public awareness of the RMH and it’s mission.  Although the Ronald McDonald House organizes fund raising and awareness campaigns throughout the year, this was the first yard sale that the group has had since 2007.

This event would not have been possible if it was not for the hard work of several groups, which include Board Members; Susan Collin, Mary Ann Martin, and Nancy Oliviero. RMH staff members Nanette Leonard, Katy Matarese, Mary Beth Murphy were instrumental in organizing; pricing, and helping customers make their purchases.  Additionally volunteers came from both the New Jersey Natural Gas Company (NJNG) and the Navy Recruiting Station in Tinton Falls, NJ, to help setup, organize, sell, and clean up when done.

Lynne Sidentop, Director of Development for Long Branch and New Brunswick RMH, noted that the Ronald McDonald House of Long Branch works in conjunction with the RMH of New Brunswick, and that fund raisers of this kind are necessary because they are almost 90% self-sufficient.  She also stressed that community outreach events like these raise awareness, which allows the RMH to continually help approximately 100 families between the two locations.

2012 marks the 25th anniversary of the Long Branch Ronald McDonald House.  To celebrate and commemorate this milestone, the Ronald McDonald House is hosting a golf tournament, a Handbag For Hope event, a wine tasting, and charitable bike ride.  To learn more about these events, please visit the RHM news and events page.
