OCEANPORT: After the closure of Fort Monmouth and damage associated with Hurricane Sandy, the Marina at Oceanport is now open to the public.

The marina, located on the Oceanport Creek off Oceanport Avenue, opened for business at the end of the June.

AP Development Partners, LLC was chosen by the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) to operate the marina this summer and until the property is sold. FMERA Executive Director Bruce Steadman said he expects the property to be sold in time for the 2015 boating season.

For now, AP Development Partners will operate the marina and there is a chance they may try to purchase the property as well, Mayor Michael Mahon said.

The marina's boating slips are open and there is a limited food menu with some drinks available at the bar.

The restaurant at the marina is currently being renovated but should open by the fall. The restaurant, which will feature a full kitchen and raw bar will be open to public year-round.
