OCEANPORT: The Oceanport Lions Club's biggest event of the year, the Strawberry Fair, kicks off again this week.
The fair opens nightly at 6 p.m. and will be held from Wednesday, May 31 through Sunday, June 4 at the Monmouth Park Race Track parking area. There will be free event parking, all tickets will be sold at the gate, and nightly closing times may vary.
The fair features rides, games and attractions and all proceeds are donated to local charities.
$30 Bracelet Night Specials with unlimited rides will be held Thursday, June 1, and Sunday, June 4.

Last year, the fair enjoyed one of its most successful seasons. Lion John Bonforte presented the Oceanport Council with a check for $10,000 that was divided among several groups. $2,000 went to the Oceanport First Aid Squad, $1,000 went to the Oceanport Police Department, $250 went to the Oceanport Hook and Ladder Volunteer Fire Company, The Port Au Peck Chemical Hose Company and its fire police will received $250 and $500, respectively, and the remaining $6,000 went to to borough of Oceanport.
