OCEAN TOWNSHIP: The Ocean Township Police announced the following arrests and charges this Friday, July 14:
• On July 14 at approximately 3:25 a.m. patrol units responded to the West Allenhurst section of the Township for a report of car burglaries in progress. As police arrived in the area, Sergeant Jeff Malone spotted and apprehended the suspect who was later identified as, Ryan Dawe.
Further investigation revealed that Dawe was in possession of numerous stolen items. During the arrest, Dawe was also found to be in possession of marijuana, Xanax pills and drug paraphernalia.
Dawe was charged with 12 counts of Burglary, four counts of Attempted Burglary, four counts of Theft, Criminal Trespass, Possession of Burglar Tools, Possession of Marijuana Under 50 Grams, Possession of Xanax pills and Drug Paraphernalia. Dawe was transported to the county jail pending his initial court appearance.
• On July 13, at approximately 10:07 p.m. Detective Michael Legg along with Detective Sergeant Patrick Martin conducted a motor vehicle stop. The stop was related to an investigation regarding prostitution in the area. The driver, later identified as Lativa Mejias was subsequently arrested for engaging in prostitution.
Further investigation revealed that Mejias also had an active warrant for her arrest. She was released on a criminal summons by our agency and released on her own recognizance by the Borough of Shrewsbury Municipal Court pending future court appearances.
• On July 12 at approximately 7:53 p.m. Police Officer Joseph Larkins observed a vehicle stopped at a green traffic signal on West Park Avenue at Highway 35. Larkins approached the vehicle and found the driver, later identified as Ryan Monaghan unconscious behind the wheel which was still running.
Further investigation by Officer Joseph Bones revealed that Monaghan was intoxicated and placed under arrest. In addition, more than 50 grams of marijuana was located in the vehicle. He was subsequently charged with the drug offenses, Driving While Intoxicated and multiple motor vehicle violations. He was released pending a future court appearance.
