Ocean Township Car Stop Yields Stun Guns And Over 50 Grams Of Pot


OCEAN TOWNSHIP: The following is a press release from the Ocean Township Police Department:

On March 12, at approximately 1:49 a.m., Police Officer Dean Schoch Jr. was on patrol along Route 18 when he observed a vehicle commit a motor vehicle violation. Officer Schoch subsequently stopped the vehicle on Route 66 near Neptune Boulevard. Once stopped Officer Schoch immediately detected the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle.

The driver was identified as 17-year-old male from Cliffwood. The occupants were identified as 17-year-old male from Matawan, 17-year-old male from Keyport. Christopher Solomon, 20 year old male from Cliffwood and Khalil Haskins, 19 year old male from Keyport.

Police Officers Ryan Krug and James Woodley subsequently arrived on scene to assist. During the stop, Officer Schoch located over 50 grams of marijuana within the vehicle and a stun gun. Another stun gun was found to be in possession of one of the occupants. The driver and occupants were all subsequently taken into custody and transported to the police station for processing.

The driver and occupants were all charged with possessing marijuana over 50 grams, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a weapon. The 17-year-old juveniles were released to a parent and or a guardian pending a future court appearance at Family Court. Khalil Haskins was released on a criminal complaint summons pending a future court date. Christopher Solomon charges were placed on a criminal complaint warrant and he was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending his initial court appearance.
