OCEAN TOWNSHIP: The many events at Joe Palaia Park each year will be enriched by the greats sounds and party atmosphere with the new band shell just completed.

To add to the occasion entertainment was be provided by Ocean Township's own Dave Krenkel and the Original Ridgerunners.

A fun ribbon cutting was held on Sunday with Council members Rich Long, John Napolitano, Donna Schepiga and Deputy Mayor Rob Acerra holding the colorful multi-ribbon as Mayor Chris Siciliano did the cutting with large shears. On the stage (left in photo) was Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling helping to celebrate the happy occasion.

A nice sized gathering saw township residents, Police Chief Steve Peters, new Business Manager Michael Muscillo, his wife Taralee and young Michael, 14 and Sammy, 11.

It was a beautiful afternoon and a treat for moms and dads, adults, kids, teens on bikes, and seniors who seemed especially delighted to see the latest change in their park named after then Mayor Joe Palaia, years back.

Retired Mayor Bill Larkin and greeted warmly by all the townspeople.

The first big event at the park is set for the Township's Italian Festival which runs from August 9 through August 13, an annual festivity looked forward to all around the town and county each summer.
