WEST LONG BRANCH: The colors outside Wilson Hall, the entrance to Monmouth University and the welcoming charm of its marble staircase hosted the Holiday Ball. The annual event had been in a more subdued mode for the past few years.
This year's preparations planned a format of old, an affair more in keeping with those of earlier years when the newness of the college was the finding new ways mode.
Guests, past grads to a large extent, were excited and delighted to step a few years back in time to feel the past, days when the halls were part of the experience of learning, with scholastic and social graces.
Classmates enjoyed the renewal of friendships, and the architecture that was a part of the experience. Smiles flourished and cell phone photo taking was a most prominent exercise.
Thanks has to go to the hardworking team of more than 40 volunteers. half former graduates, with life partners. The team holiday-ball-committee ( www.monmouth.edu/ ) had made the preparations worth the while. The Ball's benefactors, future scholarship recipients, will later reap the benefits, gifts rom the fundraiser.
MU's newest President Gray Dimenna was in the mood to the fullest, circulating happily among the several hundred including MU academics and athletics coaches who enjoyed a great year on the gridiron and expect more on the courts and athletic fields this year.
It was a sell-out crowd with a 100% satisfaction experience.
