7:00 pm EDTBook Talk: Jersey Shore Thrill Killer
John O’Rourke, a retired New Jersey State Trooper, narrates the chilling story of Richard Biegenwald, who killed several girls, including Maria Ciallella of Brick, in the 1970’s and 80’s. He will sign copies of his book “The Jersey Shore Thrill Killer” at 7:00pm Tuesday, May 30th, at the Long Branch Free Public Library at 328 Broadway in the Community Room.

Beachgoers usually dread riptides and rainy days, but from 1974 to 1983, a different fear gripped the New Jersey Shore: young women were disappearing. Their abductor was Richard Biegenwald, a man released for good behavior after serving seventeen years in prison for murder and spending time in a psychiatric facility. Police arrested him on suspicion of rape, and it was not until they connected him to a woman's death in Asbury Park that he finally stopped his rampage. Investigators later linked him to nine murders and convicted him of five.

This program is free. No registration is required. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, please call Lisa Kelly at (732) 492-7524 or email LKelly.LBPL@gmail.com.
