A major Monmouth County highway which spans four towns will likely be repaved in 2018.
New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Spokesman Daniel Triana said the state is planning to resurface Route 35 and that the project is in final design.
Triana said the project includes the milling and paving of approximately 8-miles on Route 35 in Ocean, Eatontown, Shrewsbury and Red Bank. It would begin north of the Asbury Circle in Ocean Township and end south of the Navesink River in Red Bank.
A public notice for the project states that its purpose is "to improve the service life of the roadway and to provide a renewed and smoother riding surface." It would begin north of the Asbury Circle in Ocean Township and end south of the Navesink River in Red Bank.
The NJDOT is expected to begin advertising for bids for the project this spring. Triana said that once a final contractor is selected, construction is estimated to begin in spring 2018, and is expected to be completed by fall 2020.
