Long Branch Plans September Special Events

LONG BRANCH: The summer concert series came to a close on Thursday night when Brian Kirk & The Jirks rocked Pier Village, but there are still a few events planned throughout the month.

The city decided last year that it wanted to continue its summer events past Labor Day and shifted some activities around to accommodate the new schedule.

The following events will be held in the next few weeks in Long Branch:

• The Pier House 5K will go off on Monday, Sept. 4 at Pier Village at 8:30 a.m. The annual race benefits Holiday Express and other local volunteer organizations.

For more information about the race visit www.jerseyshoregrandprix.com.

• The Cruise To The Jersey Shore car show has been scheduled for Sept. 10 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the promenade and Great Lawn. The event will feature classic cars and food trucks which will be serving up delicious treats.

• West End Funkfest will be held on Sept. 16 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at West End Park on Brighton Avenue. Quincy Mumford & The Reason Why, Dub Proof and Eastbourne will be hitting the park bandshell throughout the evening.
