Local Towns Get Funding For Road Projects

Several Monmouth County towns have received funding from the Department of Transportation Municipal Aid Program to carry out road improvement projects.

The announcement of the $4.2 million in funding for 13 Monmouth County municipalities was announced by Sen. Vin Gopal, Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling and Assemblywoman Joann Downey this week.

"The infusion of over $4.2 million in grant funding for roadway projects into District 11 is a massive win for our residents," said Sen. Gopal. "Not only will these projects ensure roadways throughout the district are safe and navigable, they will not have any negative impacts on local property taxes - a key concern for many Monmouth County families."

The $4.2 million will be distributed among towns in the Word On The Shore area including:

Eatontown: $350,000 for Malibu Drive resurfacing

Long Branch: $260,000 for phase II of the Branchport Avenue project

Ocean Township: $350,000 for Phase I of the Bowne Road project

West Long Branch: $340,000 for Maryland Avenue roadway reconstruction
