Matthew Rosen, Best in State

Little Silver:  Matthew Rosen is a second year woodwind instrumental music major in the Visual and Performing Arts Academy at Red Bank Regional HS.  Last weekend he auditioned for the All State Symphonic Band, and was given first chair, Best in State, on the Alto Clarinet.  He also auditioned for Bass Clarinet and Contra Clarinet and came in second for both instruments.

As a sophomore at RBR HS, Matt plays tenor sax in the Marching and Jazz Bands and clarinet in the concert band.  Matt performed at the Inter-district Band Festival with the RBR Clarinet quartet, on January 18, 2012 and you can view a clip on (Link to Inter-district Festival Article), where they perform Allegro Con Spirito, by D.F. Kuhlau.

At school, Matt studies under the direction of Ms. Kerry McNulty, and outside of school he studies with Ms. Jennifer Brush, and Mr. John Lukinbill, he attributes much of his success to these three individuals.  Matt is also a member of the New Jersey State Youth Orchestra, every Thursday night, they meet and practice in Colts Neck.  Once a year, the Orchestra takes over the stage at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center to perform.  If you can’t travel to New York City to see the group live, they also perform at the Grand Auditorium in Ocean Grove.

The All State Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will perform at NJPAC on February 25, 2012 at 3pm.
