Letter To The Editor: How Much Does A Melody Cost

The following is a letter to the editor from Eatontown resident Ed Fitterer:

The aftermath of a municipal judicial appointment gone wrong has left Eatontown's residents singing a whole new tune... Eatontown Councilmembers Talerico, East, May and Baginsky appointed an unqualified and inexperienced friend of the Democratic Party, Eugene Melody III, to the position of Municipal Court Judge for a three-year term.

The appointment was made despite Mayor Connelly's stern warning of the repercussions that could follow. As Mayor Connelly predicted, these four Councilmembers' vote to appoint Melody created an immediate stir in Tinton Falls, our partner in a shared services agreement whereby Eatontown utilized the Tinton Falls Municipal Courtroom and staff. Tinton Falls was apparently shocked by this brazen and unilateral act of its shared services partner and terminated the cost saving relationship we previously enjoyed.

The decision to appoint the unqualified and woefully inexperienced Melody is going to cost Eatontown taxpayers 100s of thousands of dollars in lost savings and added expense. So, how much is this Melody going to cost Eatontown taxpayer? According to the music of ABBA, lots of "Money, Money, Money."

-Ed Fitterer, Eatontown Taxpayer
