Go Fish! Eatontown Rec Holds 4th Annual Fishing Derby
|
Eatontown: The Fourth Annual Fishing Derby held at Wampum Park was a quaint and positive community event. The park was full of youngsters eager to catch a mighty prize.
This year the Eatontown Recreation Advisor Committee sponsored the event. There were several hundred fish stocked in the pond, including Bass and Catfish. It was a big family event as fathers, mothers, children and grandparents all came together to enjoy the weather and festivity. People brought breakfast, blankets, and bait all in preparation for a communal event that celebrated Eatontown solidarity and most of all fun.

The first two fish simultaneously caught were bass. The two adult proxies for the children raced each other over to the officials table. However, only one could be crowned first and it was Amanda of Eatontown. The weights of the bass were unspecified, and they were returned to the pond after being shown off to some other children.
All and all it was a great, beautiful day that was a wonderful background to a excellent event of the community.
