Garofalo Honored On St. Patty's Day in Ocean

OCEAN TOWNSHIP: Sure and it was a grand night for dancing and singing, with a special praising of retired Deputy Mayor William "Bill" Garofalo at the Renaissance, aka the Italian American Association of Ocean Township. While the accolades were a bit daunting for the somewhat praise-shy, but long respected township supporter, the tribute came from the many who have known him and his contributions over many years.

Mayor Chris Siciliano emceed the evening for the 267 guests as he introduced the numerous state, county and local representatives local including Sen, Jennifer Beck, Assemblywoman Joann Downey and Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling, Freeholders Lillian Berry, Tom Arnone, John P. Curley. Council members were all at the event: Rob Acerra, Rich Long, John Napolitani, plus Donna Schepiga who chaired the event as President of the Community Celebration Committee.

Donna was also honored through a proclamation of the NJ Legislature for her continuing service toe he township across the many events each year. She was surprised and taken aback as the full dining room applauded in her honor, all local residents and businesses.

Special entertainment featured the dazzling Irish Dancing by Miss New Jersey of 2016, Kyra Seeley with high spirits and audience response that filled the floor. The sonorous, lilting voice of Jessica Milne brought the heart strings of the crowd to full attention as she rendered "Danny Boy" with strong voice yet tender expression. Smiles and brightened eyes accompanied the applause she received.

And sure and begorrah, it was a wonderful celebration for Ocean, where gracious living abounds.
