Fundraiser Set For Family of Long Branch Shooting

LONG BRANCH: A fundraiser has been created to help the remaining members of Long Branch's Kologi family following a horrific New Year's Eve quadruple homicide.

Steven Kologi, 44; mother Linda Kologi, 42; sister Brittany Kologi, 18; and family acquaintance, Mary Schultz, 70, of Ocean Township were all shot and killed in the Kologi home on Wall Street minutes before midnight. The youngest son, Scott Kologi, 16, has been charged with four counts of murder and a weapons violation.

The incident has created an outpouring of support from the local community and it will continue with a fundraiser at Monmouth Park in Oceanport on Friday, Jan. 12. The event will be held in the William Hill Sports Bar on the first floor of the racetrack from 7-11 p.m. It was created family friends Jim Gallo and Bubba Gaetano and all proceeds will go to the remaining members of the Kologi family. Steven Kologi Jr., 20, his grandfather Adrian Kologi and another 20-year-old woman were able to escape the home on the night of shooting.

"This event will help with all burial expenses and any other financial hardships that the family is sure to be facing," according to the event's description on Eventbrite.

The fundraiser will feature a buffet dinner, cash bar, live music and gift auctions. It is open to all ages.
