Even though the freezing temperatures appear to be subsiding for now, some more wintry weather could be on its way this afternoon, Monday, Jan. 8.
The National Weather Service is reporting that a period of freezing rain, sleet and/or snow could begin falling around 5 p.m.
None of the frozen precipitation is expected to accumulate more than one inch, but it could still make for a messy commute home for motorists.
"Please give yourself extra travel time for the Monday evening commute, as roads will become slick," the National Weather Service states.
Fortunately, the rest of the week's weather appears to be much nicer with temperatures expected to reach as high as 56 degrees on Friday, Jan. 12. The warm temperatures should help melt the 18 inches of snow that fell on Monmouth County last week.
