EATONTOWN: The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) is looking to find a new owner who will continue and expand the operation of the Fort Monmouth Bowling Center.
A request for sealed bids for the center was issued by FMERA this week
The center is a 17,000 square-foot building located along the Avenue of Memories in Eatontown and features 20 bowling lanes, a pro shop, lounge area and kitchen. It is also zoned in the green tech campus area of the fort and has a parking area with 107 spaces.
The Fort Monmouth Reuse Plan calls for the building to be used as a bowling alley with other amenities.
"FMERA envisions the Bowling Center upgraded into a vibrant, upscale, expanded entertainment destination, combining traditional bowling with dining, entertainment and other amenities," the request for bids states.
A "special concessionaire permit" to serve alcohol on the site can also be issued to whomever ends up purchasing the center on annual basis for a fee of $2,000 per year as long as they enter into a contract with FMERA which authorizes them to do so.
The successful bidder must also demolish a small, wood frame building on site within 12 months of closing with FMERA.
The minimum bid set for the purchase of the building is $1.13 million and bids are due to FMERA by July 10 and will be reviewed and scored before a successful bidder is chosen.
