WEST LONG BRANCH: Anyone who has driven down Wall Street over the last few years has noticed a long-standing eyesore.
That eyesore is the vacant former Larchwood bar which is located next to University Subs near the corner of Wall Street and Larchwood Avenue.
Fortunately, the building will soon be demolished soon to make way for 16 townhomes with garages and 30 additional parking spaces. The developed land will also include an open space area for passive recreational use.
The development was originally slated to be age-restricted housing, but it will now be market-value. The plan was approved by the West Long Branch Planning Board just over 5 years ago.
West Long Branch Zoning Officer James Miller said the developers are working to get final approvals from the borough and that the bar will be demolished in the next couple of months.
