West Long Branch:Ten Betty McElmon Third and Fourth Grade students participated in the 2nd Annual 2018 Future Chefs challenge held at the cafeteria of Shore Regional High.
The smiles and excitement was shared with parents and family members as five judges took on the challenge. They allowed as how the judging was tough, but had its compensations in sampling the terrific treats the future chefs had made in this annual competition.
Sodexo Chef Lamar Braxton the Sodexo team, who run the food facility at the school, helped the young chefs work through some skill challenges. Awards were given to each participant.
1st place winner was Claudia Bufano. 2nd Place, Colin Caruso. 3rd place was Noah Smack. The winning award was a gift of fine chef utensils.
Certificates also were awarded to Katherine Bray; Leyla Littman; Meghan Chewning; Tre Whelan; Victoria Vitaliano; Rebecca Quinn and Morgan Shaftel.
Chef Braxton announced that the winning recipe, Claudia's Asian Sesame Chicken Tacos, will be served at the cafeteria for lunch sometime in the near future.
