13th Annual Island Nights
|
Little Silver: Bill and Beverly Van Winkle graciously opened up their property to Aslan Youth Ministries yet again for the 13th Annual Island Nights celebration on Saturday evening. The theme this year was Prince Edward Island, the annual event is one of the group’s largest fundraisers held during the year.
Craig Bogard (CEO) and his wife Lynn Ann were on hand for the evening as AYM honored DonnaLyn Giegerich and Tom Zapcic for their work and contributions to Aslan, both here in Monmouth County and in Haiti. Live entertainment was provided by the Jersey Surecats, dinner was catered by Branches in West Long Branch and members from the Shrewsbury Saling & Yacht Club provided boats rides on the scenic Shrewsbury River.
Chance gift baskets lined the perimeter of the Sperry Tent set on the property. If you bought a glass of champagne you had a chance to win a vacation. For $20 you had a chance to win a bottle of wine valued at more than $25, at the wine pull table. There was a Live Auction and Silent Auction with great prizes to be won. Sickles Market in Little Silver provided the centerpieces and lovely plants that decorated the tent entrance and were available for purchase at the end of the night.
Aslan Youth Ministries provides relationship-driven programs that impact and empower at-risk youth. Some of the children that Aslan helps from Monmouth County were in attendance on Saturday. After boat rides on the river the children put on a wonderful performance that delighted the crowd. The audience was on their feet clapping and singing along.
